Busy Weekend

It's going to be a busy weekend for Blue Jade - summer series race tonight, round the cans in Guernsey, then on Friday night we take the boat down to Jersey ready for the KB on Saturday. Metcheck says light winds so it looks like being a long one.

Sunday sees us competing in the Governor's Cup as part of the Guernsey team. Apparently the Jersey lot (crapauds) are bringing over a X362 Sport so we've been picked to give them a lesson in how to race...

Looking forward to it.

Proof!

Proof - as if you needed it - that we won!

We even made the paper - clip below from the Guernsey Press.

Race to Cherbourg

Blue! Blue! Blue! Blue!

A win, trophy successfully defended. 7 hours of racing from Guernsey to Cherbourg and win for Blue Jade...

The crew - all winners

It was a bit lumpy coming through the race, but with a crack (not crap) crew on board it was no problem.

Bit lumpy

We even managed two sail changes, one of which was a particularly well executed peel to go from the number one headsail to the number three, perfectly orchestrated by Ron.

The course: wasn't much of one, race instructions just said, Guernsey to Cherbourg - as you want.

Expect you can spot the unintended tack about halfway along the French coast, despite saying the whole way there (and telling other people as well on the way to the boat in the morning) stay out, stay out, at least three miles...

What did we do?

Too close, stuck in the tide and went backwards.

So out we came, and sped over the line to win (on handicap).
